You will absolutely need a lemon zester if you are the type who takes their culinary skills seriously.
With the right zester in hand, you will be able to contribute to recipes like never before.
Some of the best chefs and cooks in the world create their dishes by utilizing the grating that a lemon zester can do.
If you are serious about you cooking and if you are the type who knows how real food preparation is done, you will leave your food processor behind and do all you can to get your hands on a proper lemon zester.
The following lemon zesters are currently the most popular ones.
Contents
The trouble with most lemon zesters and other objects like it is that they are often uncomfortable to use. This results in a lot of wasted time in the kitchen and even potential injuries because of how uncomfortable they are when using them.
You'll want Deiss' lemon zester if you are the type who finds traditional lemon zesters uncomfortable to use. Its non-slip handle and curved sides speak to this. All you need to do to use it is hold the food item you want to grate in one hand, and go over it with the zester. It is much easier to use than any given box grater
Deiss' lemon zester only allows you to chop in one size. While this may be negligible to some, you will face some serious limitations if you did need a lemon zester that is able to chop in multiple sizes.
Most zesters have handles that are not comfortable to use. This causes them to slip, which can lead to unexpected injuries. Another thing that you need to deal with when using most lemon zesters is that you often need to sharpen the blades, which takes a lot of time.
You will not need to deal with any of these things when using Raniaco's zester. The handle has a nice ergonomic design that prevents it from slipping as you use it. You also won't need to sharpen its blades. They will not go blunt as you use it.
The only thing you'll need to watch for when using Raniaco's zester is that its blades are almost too sharp. You will injure yourself if you are not experienced. Cleaning it is also a little more difficult than it should be, as you need to wash it along its blades.
It is very easy to cut yourself when using a lemon zester. Finding cut resistant gloves for them is also very difficult to do. While this is not an issue for those who are experienced with lemon zesters, it is for those who are not experienced using them.
Kaluns' citrus zester is designed for those who are new to using them. It comes with a cut resistant glove, which will protect you from cutting yourself when using it. This will prevent you from going out of your own way to acquire a cut resistant glove.
The blades of Kaluns' citrus zester are only available in one size. This creates a lot of limitations when it comes to being versatile and it may lead you to prefer a box grater.
Most lemon zesters and cheese graters clog. Whether they are the traditionally designed block types of graters or the modern zester type of graters, you'll often need to clean the zester off periodically as you use it.
This is not the case when using Alltop's fine shredding grater. The teeth do not clog at all, allowing you to work a lot longer without needing to stop to clean it. It is perfect when you know that you have a lot of food items to grate.
You will need to be somewhat experienced when using Alltop's zester. This is because the handle, while comfortable, is very small. This means that you'll need to be extra careful with it when using it, this way you don't cut yourself.
Most lemon zesters are difficult to store. You can put them in the drawer with all the other kitchen tools you use, but chances are good that they will get lost along with everything else you keep if you do that.
Fortunately, BelleGuppy's lemon zester is easy to store. With a hanging hole placed on the edge of the handle, you can hang it anywhere and never worry about losing it. This is a fantastic thing if you own a lot of other kitchen tools and will keep you organized.
The blade of BelleGuppy's cheese grater and lemon zester is not nearly as wide as other lemon zesters. While this may not affect you if you have considerable experience using them, this may be a challenge if you are not as experienced since you need to be that much more precise.
Leaving your zester out in the open uncovered is never a good idea. This is one of the biggest issues that surround most lemon zesters: They don't contain any kind of covers that prevent anyone from accidentally cutting themselves on it.
Yibidinay has solved this issue by containing a protective cover. This allows you to store it anywhere without being afraid of anybody grabbing it and cutting themselves. It is also very easy to clean it by simply running it under some running water.
Something that you'll need to watch out for with Yibidinay's lemon zester is that the blade is a little less wide than others like it. Not only that, the blade on Yibidinay's zester is also flimsy, so you'll need to be a little more gentle with it than usual.
It seems like most lemon zesters are almost specifically designed for experienced users. Their handles are not too big and their blades are typically not wide enough to account for any mistakes that might be made. This is what turns most away from lemon zesters and towards block graters.
Siasky's citrus zester is what you are looking for if you are new to lemon zesters. It is a bit bigger than most other zesters, which allows you to be a lot more safe when using it. The blade is a little more wide and the handle is a little longer and that is what makes it more safe to use.
Unfortunately, this is also one quality of Siasky's cheese grater that holds it back. It can take up space in your kitchen, which is what many try to avoid when they swap out block style cheese graters for a lemon zester.
While it isn't impossible to clean most lemon zesters, it can be a lot more difficult than most of them claim. Simply running water along the blade of your lemon zester can only do so much when cleaning them, and most of them aren't dishwasher safe.
One of the best things about Sicaco's lemon zester is that it is dishwasher safe. This allows you to clean it much easier, which makes it ideal for anybody who knows that they will be using their zester for long term cooking projects.
Although Sicaco's lemon zester is reinforced with a flame, the blade is still unusually long and it will tend to bend if you apply too much pressure to it. This makes it a little difficult to use and it also means that you'll be a bit more experienced than usual to use it properly.
One of the biggest issues with any lemon zester is that they are one-dimensional. Their blades only contain one size and this is one thing that can get you to go back to using your block style grater, since most block style graters have two blade sizes.
Thinkeep's set of lemon zesters have changed all of this. You get three different kinds of zesters in its set, allowing you to perform nearly any kind of grating project that you are tasked to do. You will never need to use a block grater again when using it.
The blades in Thinkeep's set are nowhere near as sturdy as the blades of any other lemon zester. This means that you will need to be much more careful using it. This can prolong your grating projects more than you might like.
Most lemon zesters and graters only contain one size of blade, typically only leaving you with a fine grating option. This severely limits what you can do and it will get you to turn back to the block style grater that you wanted to replace in the first place.
Fortunately, Lynn & Riley has a lemon zester that works very similar to any given block style grater. It contains a fine blade as well as a coarse blade. This makes it a true replacement for any given block style grater.
Unfortunately, Lynn & Riley's lemon zester has coarse and fine blades on the same side of one blade. This makes it a little uncomfortable to use and you will need to be more experienced that most to use it effectively.

Traditional block style graters are a thing of the past.
These graters crowd up the kitchen and are uncomfortable to use.
Fortunately, a much better solution is available in the form of the lemon zester.
Don't think that lemon zesters are only for grating produce. You can easily grate cheese, chocolate, or anything else that can be grated with it.
If you are fed up with using a block cheese grater or a food processor to accomplish the task of grating for you, lemon zesters are a solution.
Some of these lemon zesters even contain the same sizes of blades that their block grater counterparts contain.
This means that there really is no excuse to use a lemon zester for grating instead of a block cheese grater.
