Cleaning your carpet is easily one of the most time consuming tasks when it comes to maintaining your home's cleanliness, if not the most time consuming.
From vacuuming the carpet to applying cleaning solution to re-vacuuming to then waiting for everything to dry before you can even walk on the carpet again, cleaning the carpet can be extremely stressful and tedious.
And if you don't really have an idea of what kind of cleaner or cleaner spray to use for your carpet, it can be a frustrating process as well that often gets ignored because of the overwhelm that one can experience at the mere thought of cleaning a carpet.

Fortunately, there exist a set of carpet cleaner sprays that can make this task much easier. Read on to explore them and see which one is best for you.
There are a number of things that you need to consider before going out and purchasing a carpet cleaner spray.
Even though they are not massive and complicated like a carpet cleaning machine would be, you still need to keep a few things in mind.
The first of these is how much of your carpet needs to be cleaned. Carpet cleaner sprays are mostly designed for small spots on your carpet that you need to clean, but they can also take on some more significant cleaning jobs. However, some cleaning sprays can take on significant cleaning jobs and some cannot. You need to look for that distinction.
Do you have pets? If you do, you'll need to know if the carpet cleaning spray you are interested in is pet friendly. This is especially true if you are using a carpet cleaning spray to remove small stains in your carpet. Even if a pet comes across the smallest spot that has been cleaned with a carpet cleaner that is not pet friendly, problems can occur. If you have no pets you can get whatever carpet cleaner you want, but if you do, you'll need to make the right choice.
How big are the stains in your carpets? This is another issue where you will need to select the right type of carpet cleaning spray. Some sprays can only remove small stains, and some of them are only designed to remove large stains. Some stains can't be removed by a carpet cleaner spray at all and will require a machine.
These are a few things that you should be thinking about before you get a carpet cleaner spray. Keeping these in mind, let's now explore a number of particularly effective sprays that we have encountered recently.
One of the most common sources of carpet stains come from pets. Different than stains that come from other sources, pet stains can be permanent if not handled properly. And even worse, cleaning machines are often too broad in their efforts to focus particularly on certain pet stains.
Woolite's carpet cleaner spray is very useful if you are struggling with pet stains even after using a cleaning machine. It comes in a standard spray bottle so it is very easy to carry around, and you can use it to not only clean pet stains but to clean almost any soft surface. Woolite's spray will work well on not just carpets, but any carpet-based surface that is affected by a pet stain. This includes couches and pet beds.
Another surprising aspect of Woolite's spray is its strength. In most cases, all you need to do to clean a stain with it is spray it on the stain then wipe it down with a towel or some other kind of cloth. This makes it a great addition to any carpet cleaning machine.
Why is Woolite's spray a good addition to a cleaning machine and not a good replacement for one? Simply put, it is close to impossible to clean an entire carpet with Woolite's spray, as the bottle is only 22 ounces. This makes it designed for cleaning spots and nothing else.
Wouldn't it be nice if a carpet cleaner spray could remove stains from more than just a carpet?
Let's be honest; a lot of "carpet cleaner" sprays are just that - they can only clean carpets, proving how one-dimensional they are.
The "super cleaner" by CarGuys is one such carpet cleaner spray that does a whole lot more than clean carpets. It is useable on almost any soft surface and even some hard ones. Instead of just carpet, CarGuys' cleaner can remove stains from leather, upholstery, and even plastic or rubber. You can use it on virtually any surface that is not 100% solid.
CarGuys' spray is also eco-friendly, and doesn't utilize the kinds of chemicals that most common carpet sprays do. This is also why it is so versatile.
If you are planning to use CarGuy's spray for a lot of things and for a long time, prepare to stock up. The bottle only contains 18 ounces of cleaning solution and while you get a towel alongside it, the fact that you get so little of the spray means that you will probably need more than one of them for long term use.
Anybody who owns a carpet cleaning machine is probably familiar with Hoover's CleanPlus. This machine will fully clean full rooms of carpets and is very popular among homeowners.
But what if you already have a cleaning machine and want to take advantage of Hoover's impressive CleanPlus formula?
This is where Hoover's CleanPlus spray comes in. It contains the exact same solution that the CleanPlus cleaning machine uses, only that it is in the form of a spray. If you already have a cleaning machine, or if you live in a place where the rooms are so small that you do not need a cleaning machine, consider the CleanPlus spray.
However, Hoover's CleanPlus spray is not pet friendly. If you have pets, you will need to look for something else.
You will also need to look for something else if you want a carpet cleaner spray that can clean all fabrics and not just carpets. Hoover's CleanSpray will not work on couches, leather, upholstery, or any other types of fabric based furniture. The CleanSpray is very one dimensional in what it does so it is only really ideal for those who are interested in only cleaning spots on their carpets.
A problem that most encounter with carpet cleaner sprays is that they simply do not last long enough. Coming in small spray bottles that are only about 20 or so ounces, most common carpet cleaning sprays need to be replaced or refilled constantly. This is especially true if the cleaner is used daily.
Folex's carpet cleaner solves this problem by arriving in two 32 ounce bottles, which is very nice for anybody who regularly uses carpet cleaning products. Order Folex's bottles if you are constantly finding yourself cleaning small spots on your carpet. For something like a small pet stain or spill, it is much easier to just spray Folex's cleaners onto the spill or stain then scrub it.
While it does not require vacuuming or anything to apply, Folex's cleaner is not as effective as other cleaners. It can only remove certain stains or spills and will not perform well when used on stronger stains and spills.
This can make things confusing when it comes to what kind of stains you want to clean with Folex's cleaner bottles. Some will be easy to remove, and some will not. Unfortunately, Folex's cleaner is not specific about what it can clean.
If you need to remove significant stains in a carpet, you will get a lot out of Bissell's carpet cleaner. It can remove some of the strongest stains in a carpet, including stains from red wine, any kind of juice, and even coffee. It can also remove pet stains, which are similarly difficult to remove.
Bissell's 14 ounce bottle of carpet spray can be taken anywhere and is very easy to use. It is also unbelievably strong. You don't need to pour this into a carpet cleaning machine or spray it on a stain then scrub it repeatedly to effectively clean anything. All you need to do with Bissell's cleaner is spray it onto the stain then watch it remove whatever stains you want…permanently.
But that is the problem with Bissell's spray - the bottle only contains 14 ounces of formula. If you have a lot of carpet to clean, you will need to either stock up on bottles or select a cleaning formula that you can place inside of a machine then clean the carpet that way.
Bissell's carpet cleaner spray is designed for cleaning small spills and stains. If you need to clean a carpet stain that measures anything more than three inches in total diameter, it would be better to use something else that can clean a much larger area.
The formula of most carpet cleaner sprays resemble either liquid or foam. These formulas work by being sprayed onto the surface and usually scrubbed after.
While any given stain will be removed by doing this, it will also affect the aesthetics of the spot where the carpet had the stain. When a carpet stain is scrubbed, it will tear some of the material of the carpet, making it look a little bit different than the rest of the carpet.
Coming in an aerosol can, Blue Magic's carpet spray solves this problem. While the spot you spray it on does need to be scrubbed in, it only needs to be lightly scrubbed in. This makes it much better than carpet cleaner sprays that use a different formula.
The fact that Blue Magic's cleaner has an aerosol type formula makes it very easy to determine how much you'll need to apply as well. While it is possible to control how much you can apply with other formulas, this is easier to do with aerosol.
However, the thing about anything aerosol is that you are never really aware of how much you are truly using. This is also true for Blue Magic's carpet spray, as you can find yourself using more than you might have wanted to.
Most carpet cleaners that use the same formulas as Spot Shot will require you to scrub in the area that you spray. This is because most of the time, the formula is not powerful enough to eliminate the given stain or spill on its own.
Spot Shot's carpet cleaner eliminates this problem. In most cases, you do not need to scrub the area you spray with it afterwards. It is powerful enough to where it will eliminate a stain or spill without the assistance of scrubbing it after.
While this is useful in and of itself, another thing that is useful is the fact that Spot Shot's cleaner is 32 ounces. This makes it possible to use in a larger area with many spots on the carpet that can be cleaned without worrying about having enough.
The unfortunate thing about Spot Shot's cleaner is that it is very general in what it claims to clean. It is not specifically for stains caused by pets, juice, or any other substance or being. This can be troublesome if you encounter only one or two types of stains. If you are dealing with a particular carpet stain on a regular basis, you may want to go with a carpet cleaner that can clean specific stains.
One thing that carpet cleaner sprays do not really promise is preventing future stains when applied to a current stain. Most of these cleaners don't really protect a carpet from future stains and instead just focus on cleaning stains immediately.
While there is some value in this, it is also useful for carpet cleaners to prevent future stains, and that is what Scotchgard's cleaner does. When it is applied to a spot on the carpet, it will also prevent resoiling. This means you do not need to worry about cleaning the same spots over and over and again.
Scotchgard's cleaner also has a scent to it, which is something most other carpet cleaners lack. A lot of other carpet cleaners will remove stains, but the odor of the stain will still exist. This does not happen when you clean carpet stains with Scotchgard's cleaner, as it eliminates odors.
One problem with Scotchgard's cleaner is that unlike other carpet cleaners, it can be harmful and unsafe to use. This is because of the additional chemicals that are in its formula that prevents resoiling. When you do use it, make sure that the spot on the carpet that you apply it do dries up before walking on it or before letting your pets near it.
A lot of carpet cleaning sprays dispense either a mist, a foam, or a stream of its solution, but never all three. The biggest and best difference between Simple Solution's spray and other carpet sprays is that it lets you switch between the three. This is a good thing because different stains on the carpet require different "volumes" of carpet cleaning formula, and Simple Solution provides this.
Another thing that Simple Solution provides is a lot of power in its spray. Made specifically for pet stains and other significantly strong carpet stains that would normally need a carpet cleaning machine, it is very easy to spray Simple Solution's carpet cleaner over spots that contain these stains, scrub it down after, then watch as the stain not only clears now, but will also be protected from similar stains in the future.
Do not forget that Simple Solution only works on stains that are water safe, as the formula in the bottle is indeed water based. Using this on a carpet stain that has already dried up or solidified will affect how your carpet looks and may not even be effective on the dried up stain. Just because Simple Solution's cleaner is powerful does not mean it literally works on everything.
Another thing you should be aware of is how powerful Simple Solution's cleaner actually is. If it is used on a stain that is not as strong as a pet stain or something similar, you will run the risk of discoloring the carpet.

Carpet cleaner sprays that you use to spray and wipe down stains on your carpet can get annoying, as the carpet can get rough after scrubbing it.
Scrubbing a carpet after spraying it can also be inconsistent. Sometimes you can remove the stain and sometimes you only remove the stain partially.
All of this is solved with Spot Shot's carpet cleaner spray, which comes in the form of an aerosol can. Removing a stain is very easy: Just spray the spot shot on it without scrubbing.
This is a very nice alternative to any given carpet cleaner spray that is used to remove certain spots on the carpet, and the fact that you do not need to scrub anything after using it will reduce a lot of busy work that cleaning an individual carpet stain can entail.
Spot shot is also pet friendly, and seems to specialize in stains that are related to pets. This makes it a little better than most other carpet cleaner sprays that are not pet friendly.
Unfortunately, Spot shot is not as effective as many other carpet cleaner sprays. Most of the stains that you will spray it on will still be faintly visible. It will eliminate odors on contact, but if you are interested in the visual appeal of your carpet, you will probably need to look elsewhere.
