This cookware set has been made by T-Fal for Jamie Oliver, and has the trademark T-Fal thermo-spot heat indicator. Hamie Oliver’s contribution was choosing the items that make up the set, and they are slightly different to most cookware sets.
This set is made from hard anodized aluminum on the outside (the hard anodizing process is designed to protect the aluminum), with a nonstick coating on the inside, which includes T-Fal’s famous thermo-spot (which goes red when the pan gets hot).
The lids are all made from tempered glass and have built-in vents to prevent them from boiling over. All the pans are oven safe to 350F and the handles are covered in silicone to make them cool-to-touch.
Here’s what you get in this set.
* two frying pans (7.75 inches and 9.75 inches)
* two saucepans with glass lids (1 quart and 2 quarts)
* one 5 quart dutch oven with glass lid
* one square grill pan (10.5 inches)
* one vegetable steamer
The difference between this set and Rachael Ray’s ten piece set (which is nearly double the cost), is that it doesn’t have a covered saute pan. Instead Jamie Oliver has chosen to include the square grill – if you do a lot of grilling, then get this set.
As is the case with all the hard anodized sets reviewed on this site (see sidebar for others), you need to hand-wash these pans. Hand-washing need not be a hassle as long as you make sure you soak the pans in a little soapy water immediately after use – the food then sponges off easily.
This set comes with a limited lifetime warranty for all cooking surfaces apart from induction stoves.
