The La Cafetiere French Press Coffee Maker is one of the prettiest cafetieres available at the moment.
It has is made of stainless steel etched in a flower and vine pattern, by designer Alison Appleton, and the glass beaker slips inside the stainless steel tube. This makes the construction much sturdier than other french presses.
This French Press is easy to use – you spoon in your grounds, pour in hot water (it is important that the water is just off the boil – if it is boiling it can burn the grounds leaving a bitter taste), let it sit for four minutes and then push the plunger down to separate the grounds from the coffee.
The capacity of this cafetiere is 32 ounces – this means it makes eight dainty sized cups of coffee (equivalent to about two to three American mug sizes). The stainless steel and glass are easy to clean (you can remove the glass beaker from the stainless steel tube), and they also sell replacement beakers and plungers so you can continue to use the cafetiere for decades.
La cafetiere is actually a British company that started making French presses in the 1960′s.
The Titania comes in a very pretty gift box, so can double as a house warming present or Christmas gift. You can also buy a smaller three cup version. Amazon are selling both with free delivery – see below:
